At VanderBrook Chiropractic, we utilize a variety of personalized traditional and modern techniques in order to obtain the best results possible for the patient. These techniques include manual and instrument assisted chiropractic adjustments with the goal of restoring a degree of lost motion within the joints, easing muscle tension, and decreasing stress upon the nervous system.
Additionally, we offer a low force decompression method known as Flexion and Distraction. Flexion and Distraction is a technique that acts to reduce pressure within the intervertebral disc that can result from disc bulges (also known as herniations), facet syndrome, spinal stenosis, and spondylolisthesis. This reduction in pressure within the intervertebral disc and restoration of anatomy allows the nerve roots exiting the spinal column to pass free of compression. It is this compression of exiting nerve roots which causes the shooting pains associated with sciatica. The effectiveness of Flexion and Distraction has been well documented and demonstrated in scientific peer-reviewed literature. Flexion and Distraction is a safe and gentle technique that can be used to treat those with osteoporosis and pregnancy related low back pain who may not be candidates for more traditional techniques.
Dr. VanderBrook will take the time to create and review a personalized at home rehabilitation exercise program that includes stretching and strengthening activities to provide patients with long term relief. It is our feeling that through shared responsibility between patient and provider we can accomplish the mutual goal of lasting pain relief.
If passive modalities are needed, Dr. VanderBrook has the ability and training to utilize electrical stimulation therapy to help reduce pain generating soft tissue inflammation and decrease muscle spasm.
